Despite the concerns of Paul McGinley, a vice-captain for the European Ryder Cup team,Callaway X-22 Irons Set Lee Westwood’s recovery from a calf injury is still “ahead of schedule” according to the world No. 3’s manager.
McGinley told the Guardian that Westwood is “an unknown factor until he turns up” for the matches later this month,Titleist 2010 AP2 Forged Iron Set but contacted on Monday by GolfChannel.com Westwood’s manager, Chubby Chandler with International Sports Management, said “he will play 18 holes next Monday and is the fittest he’s been all year.”
Westwood has not played competitively since he withdrew from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational following a second-round 76 in early August,TaylorMade R9 Fairway Wood and if he’s unable to play in this year’s matches captain Colin Montgomerie would replace him on the team with another wild-card pick.
“A couple of months ago we were quite clear favorites,” McGinley said,Taylormade R9 Driver “but in the last two months things have changed. We have been hurt by Lee Westwood’s injury.”
