Played Royal Troon for second time this past September and course was in “Open” like condition. Despite high play this course always maintained to excellent standard.
Like many traditional old links layouts, Royal Troon starts you off fairly easy and straightforward. This last time, we had a reverse wind to the usual prevailing wind, so not so easy a start, but a lovely one.This is a wonderful test and I would recommend every travel golfer who has the opportunity to play it every time they can. Lunch is always a joy as well. Royal Troon always has some of the very best caddies and if you buy a package, don’t forget to try a few holes of the Portland course as it’s a good challenge itself.
